I just want to take a moment to recognize all of the wonderful parents and student volunteers who give of themselves to the JAMS community year ’round. Unfortunately we are all very aware and effected by the tough economic hardship felt around the globe, and especially in California.
Arts programming is being cut throughout school districts and museums across the country, and everywhere we look the arts budgets are very slim. While the cost of supporting a visual art program is great, the benefits are priceless and the elimination of materials is tragic.
I vow to dig into my own personal pocket to support the JAMS art program to the best of my own ability, but donations of any kind help me know that the JAMS visual art program is supported and that we are all dedicated to creating the richest, most varied art experience for our JAMS students. Donations do not have to be monetary (although money will certainly not be turned away). I am also thrilled to accept donations in the form of Time, Materials, and Collections. If you would like to know how you can help, please browse the items and ideas below to see if you can help support us in our artistic efforts!

TIME
I know that everyone is busy and Time is a commodity, however perhaps you have some time to donate? I am always thrilled for help in any of the following areas:
organizing field trips (which I have considered cutting due to a lack of support from parent chaperones in last minute cancellations and no-shows
), Grant writing, Mustering donations for community area businesses and sample houses, Classroom volunteerism, Sharing your skills as a visiting artist in the classroom if it is within your area of expertise, Organization of student shows (several throughout the year, but mostly towards the end of the year) with everything from running to a store for last minute supplies to coordination matting and labeling, Finding and Coordination of Gallery or Show Space, Transporting Student Work for Shows
COLLECTIONS
The most creative and original art work demands one-of-a kind materials. These materials are often found in collections that we hold on to because we can never figure out what to do with them. If you have such a collection please contact me, and if you would like to start one, here are some ideas:
Peeled stamps off of letters, Buttons, Bottle Caps, Marbles, Tile Pieces, Old dinnerware or ceramic pieces to be broken into mosaic tile pieces or used in still life arrangements, Vintage anything, cards, stationary, Corks, Pennies, Bottles, Plastic flowers, Figurines, Small toys
